ILCTas provides an information advisory service on daily living equipment, assistive technology and building design for people with disabilities, frail aged and their carers. A large range of equipment is on display for trial and demonstration. Equipment is not sold, hired or loaned by the centre.The centre also provides the ILC Tech program which assists with computer access, environment control and communication devices. A Mobile Outreach Service is available to regional areas by request. A register of second hand equipment for sale by its owners is available on the ILC Tas website.

TADVIC is an organisation whose volunteer members design, construct or modify equipment for people with disabilities where there are no commercially available equipment to meet their needs. This is a free service however the client is asked to reimburse the volunteer for materials used and travel. The Ballarat branch meets quarterly. Second Tuesday in the months of Feb, May, Aug, Nov at 7.30 pm at Kohinoor Community Centre, Cnr Errard and Sebastopol Streets. New members are welcome.

A non-profit, volunteer based organisation which specialises in the design, production and installation of non-standard aids not available on the market, and the adaptation of existing aids for people with disabilities.

The NSW Fire Brigade provides a free smoke alarm battery replacement service for the elderly or disabled. The procedure is as follows: obtain clients details and fax the referral form to the central contact point. The client's local Fire Brigade will then contact client to arrange a time to replace the battery, they will also install a new smoke alarm if required. The NSW Fire Brigade are NOT able to provide the battery or alarm. Clients details will be placed on the Fire Brigades database and flagged for a reminder in 12 months time to replace the battery again
