Hammond Care's Dementia Respite Service supports carers of people suffering dementia by providing quality, flexible in-home respite program that can take clients out for a socialisation in the Gosford and Wyong LGA's. Provides respite for carers of persons who have dementia with CHALLENGING BEHAVIOUR. The Respite Service offers a commitment to deliver a plan of care that adds value to the lives of both the carer and the care recipient, provides individual care planning offering a choice and flexibility that the care recipient has control over, and provides an opportunity for the carer to have some quality time.

Provides respite care tailored to the individual needs of the family and/or the carer, by offering carers time limited breaks from their caring responsibilities. One to one support in the home or community will be provided to promote inclusion, socialisation and community integration. There is a criteria for priority of access to the program

In any financial year, DVA will pay for 196 hours of in-home or 28 days residential respite care (daily care fee only) or a combination of both, for DVA White card(if eligible) or Gold card holders. Seven hours in-home respite is equivalent to one day in residential respite. The DVA cardholder file number and name, the proposed dates of admission and facility name should be provided to the Veterans' Home Care assessor. Veterans do not source residential respite.

This service provides respite options for people with high support needs either because of their disability and/or challenging behaviour by providing flexible and appropriate activities, that will in turn minimise the risk of institutionalisation. A respite package is designed in consultation with the service user / family reflecting their needs, lifestyle and personal respite preferences. The persons providing care are very experienced and have demonstrated skills in providing support for people with high support needs. Users of this service are required to pay a contribution towards the cost of the care. Costs vary but may be as low $2 per hour for some respite.

This service supports people in the Mosman, North Sydney, Lane Cove and Willoughby areas.

Woonona Cottage is a six bedroom house, located at Wahroonga, and run by Hope Healthcare. Guests may stay for one or four nights, thereby providing the respite break for their carers. People with dementia will be offered accommodation on alternate nights to people who are frail aged.

Overnight respite accommodation service located close to the business area at St Marys. The cottage has 3 bedrooms, lounge, dining and family room. Carers can receive respite while the person they care for receives support in the unit utilising their respite package, through emergency or brokerage funding or by funding themselves.

Planned and emergency out-of-home overnight respite care for people with an intellectual/developmental disability as their primary disability. The service provides care in a respite house where people can either continue on with their regular activities (ie work or school) or use respite as a holiday option. Overnight stays can be for 5 nights from Sun - Fri or 2 nights from Friday - Sunday. Emergency respite care can be provided for a maximum of 7 nights.
