The Spectacles Assistance Scheme provides financial assistance towards the purchase of spectacles. Eligible people are assisted with the cost of specific types of lenses and frames. The assistance is means tested and is not available to all health care card holders. There is a restriction on the frequency of application. To be considered for assistance an application form must be completed and accompanied by an optometrists script for glasses.
