The Taxi Users' Subsidy Scheme (TUSS) provides taxi travel at a reduced rate for people who have a severe disability that will always prevent them from using a conventional public transport bus service. Who is eligible for a subsidy? To be eligible for a subsidy you must: -be a permanent resident of Western Australia. Proof of residency is required, for example: a copy of a pension card, a driver's licence or a residency visa. If a residency visa is provided please also provide a copy of a recent utility bill; and -have a severe disability that will always prevent you using a conventional public transport bus service; and -The disability is required to be continual and fall within the specified categories of: severe mobility disability; severe vision disability (legal blindness); and severe cognitive/intellectual disability.

ACT Taxi Subsidy Scheme

ACT, Australia

Provides assistance with the cost of taxi fares for ACT residents living with disabilities. Eligibility criteria applies. Applicants must be unable to use the public bus service at all times due to their disability.Applicants need to obtain an application form from the scheme, complete the front section (part A), take the form to the doctor for the doctor to complete the back section(part B). Then send the form to the address on the form, with evidence of ACT residency.

NT Taxi Subsidy Scheme

NT, Australia

A transport option for people with disabilities who are unable to access other forms of transport, to assist them to participate in activities and enhance their quality of life. All applicants will be required to produce a medical assessment form and may be required to be assessed by a relevent allied health professional

Provides subsidised transport by taxi to people with severe and permanent disabilities from 5 years onwards. Participants pay half of the metered fare. The Maximum subsidy that can be claimed is $30.00 per trip. Any amount over the $60 metered fare must be incurred by the participant. There is a six week processing time of applications. Participation in the scheme is not means tested, however, applicants must meet strict eligibility criteria. Receipt of an aged, invalid, blind or any other pension will not automatically qualify an individual for participation in the Scheme. Pre-school aged children, regardless of their disability, are ineligible for the Scheme. Application forms and eligibility criteria can be found on the website or by phoning 1800 623 724. From 1 December 2007, drivers of Wheelchair Accessible Taxis will be able to claim $8.47 for each wheelchair passenger they carry. The trial is intended to improve reliability and response times for wheelchair passengers.
