The Flexible Support Options Program provides short term services to people with disabilities, their families and carers. Clients must have a disability as per the Disability Services Act. The Board of Management of Life Without Barriers, Gosford Council and the Minister for Disability have jointly purchased enough beach wheelchairs to be place on every beach in the Gosford LGA. The Terrigal Surf Clubs wheelchair is located in the First Aid Room. Interested people can contact the above number to reserve the chair at Terrigal beach for a certain period. They do not have to be registered with Life Without Barriers to access this service. All ages and disabilities are encouraged to use the wheelchair, to enable them to enjoy the beach. The wheelchairs wheels have been specially designed for easy access on the sand and in the water. The Spastic Centre Services, Central Coast clinic runs from the Berkeley Vale Centre at the above address as part of the Hunter and Central Coast region of the Spastic Centre. The Stuart Centre Newcastle (listed separately) is the regional office. Enquiries for this service can be directed to the Stuart Centre or the Berkeley Vale Centre. Kids on the Coast Children's Service operates from the Berkeley Vale centre and focus is on the therapy and early educational needs of children and babies who have cerebral palsy or similar conditions. The therapy team also see children and young people from 6 - 18 years with a diagnosed disability who have significant and complex needs and has a limited Adult Support service for young adults with a physical disability. The team consists of physiotherapists, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, an early childhood educator.
