Host Family Respite is a service that supports families caring for a child or adult with disabilities by providing respite care, which may be provided in the home of a 'host family', in the client's own home or may be an outing in the community. Clients must be the carer of a child or adult who has a permanent disability requiring a moderate to high level of support, residing in Mudgee LGA. The service can be used for a few hours regularly each week, overnight, for a weekend a month or up to four weeks a year. Volunteer respite carers who are carefully selected, screened and trained provide the care to the person with whom they are linked. Clients are asked to pay a small fee for the care provided. Inability to pay will not exclude a person from using the service.
