Service aims to provide a professional flexible service that is innovative and responsive to the needs of individuals and their families. Samaritans Respite Service provides planned respite for clients who have an intellectual disability as their primary diagnosis and who are over the age of 18. Accommodation is provided on approximately 2 acres at Jilliby and has been modified to accommodate people in wheelchairs. A modified vehicle is available to transport clients. The house is staffed by fully trained and caring workers 24 hours a day, seven days a week for 49 weeks a year. The home is able to accommodate 4 clients only. Planned respite can be taken in blocks up to one week every four months. Bookings are taken on a quarterly basis. Priority is given to people with moderate to high support needs, people who are living with ageing carers, people who are living at home with a primary carer and the health of the primary carer is affected.

Provides overnight respite options at Hopetown Special School. Clients must already be registered with Coastlink. They are held every 2nd weekend for 24 hours, and are only able to take 6 clients at a time. The facility has access to a hoist and shower chair. Also able to provide respite to the frail aged.

DADHC's Respite Services provides planned respite at two venues on the Central Coast. An assessment will be done over the phone by the Intake Officer at the Department's Gosford office and the assessment is then allocated to an eligibility committee who will review the case. The length of time they stay depends on the families needs. Respite can be during the week, weekends or holidays.

Residential Respite Booking Service is a free service for nursing home and hostel residential respite. Residential respite is short term accommodation for people requiring temporary alternate care arrangements. It is designed to help carers continue in their caring role by providing a 'break' from caring. The service offers - choice of appropriate facilities, information on respite bed availability and confirmation of bookings, organising aspects of respite care eg medication requirements and information on pension entitlements, liasion with the Department of Veterans Affairs for funded respite (Gold Card recipients). In order to be eligible for respite in an aged care facility the client needs a current Aged Care Application and Approval form also known as a ACCR form. Eligibility for residential respite is 63 days each financial year. The Carer Allowance is not affected unless more than 63 days respite each financial year is taken

The aim of this service is to provide support and respite to carers, reducing the risk of premature or inappropriate admission of people with dementia to institutional care services. Need to be assessed and be diagnosed with having dementia, may have challenging behaviours. Carers are offered a flexible service. In-home respite up to 6 hours per fortnight. Respite services are provided to carers to strengthen and maintain the caring relationship by providing a break from their caring responsibilities. The service can be provided from the home of the care recipient on a one-to-one individual basis. The aim during this time is to provide the care recipient with social support and interaction from a substitute carer while the primary carer engages in other activities outside the home. The Kiama Council Community Support Respite Service also operates a bowling outing on Tuesday evenings for younger people with a disability.
