JewishCare - Transitions

This program provides support for young adults (aged 18-30) with a history of mental health who have problems mixing socially. The group meets every second Saturday evening and also arranges short trips away. The aim of transitions is to increase the confidence and self-esteem of members so they can reintegrate back into the communtiy. It also provides respite to the parents or carers.

The Greek worker provides support to Greek speaking older people and people with disabilities and their carers. Convenes a Greek women's group and a Greek carers group. The Greek Carer Support Group offers information on services, gentle exercises and relaxation techniques, planned activities (arts, crafts, guest speakers etc), a friendly and relaxed environment and refreshments.

Centre-based respite for frail, isolated, mentally alert elderly people. Our friendship group is a great way of meeting new people and sharing experiences. This program aims to provide a network amongst participants for contact, access to information and support, in order to maintain independence for as long as possible, and includes outings, speakers, barbecues, games and music. The FRANS Community Access Program provides respite to 130-150 families/primary carers living in Sydneys Inner West. This program offers enjoyable recreational and social activities for children, teenagers and adults with disabilities. The aim of the program is to provide families/primary carers with respite from their full time caring roles at the same time facilitating peer and social interaction for their dependants by providing various age appropriate and culturally sensitive recreational programs in the community.
