Telecross is a free service provided by the Aust. Red Cross. Every morning clients receive a short friendly phone call between 8am and 9am . The service is a security blanket - if there is no answer a second call is made. If there is no response or if the client seeks help an emergency response procedure is activated by Red Cross and emergency assistance is arranged if necessary. Telecross is available for those in our community who may need a helping hand. People who live alone, are disabled, ill , isolated, frail aged or medically at risk. Anyone who might benefit from a daily phone call to combat their isolation is welcome to apply. Red cross is committed to making sure everybody feels they are an important part of our society. Telecross can be provided on a temporary basis for example; if the carer is away. Service available 7 days per week. Servicing Port Stephens and the Lower Hunter as well.

To provide on site support for families,who live in caravan parks and mobile home villages in the Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Cessnock and Raymond Terrace area. To design, deliver and support needs bases programs in collaboration with residents. To encourage and support personal empowerment and to work with communities to facilitate the building of social capital between members of caravan parks. Western Plains Branch of Home Care Service of NSW offers Western Plains Social Support in Bogan, Bourke, Brewarrina, Cobar, Walgett and Warren local government areas, aimed at improving the quality of life for frail, aged people, younger people with disabilities and carers by helping them meet their need for social contact and participating in community life. The service will provide a trained volunteer to help with everyday activities such as: shopping, banking, bill paying, companionship, social support, telephone support, library visits, minor home maintenance, home visits and reading, addressing and posting mail, some transport to accompany client to appointments, social outings, and, information and referral to other services. Anyone can contact Western Plains Social Support and discuss their individual needs with a Coordinator. There may be a minimal cost depending on the service provided. No service will be denied due to an inability to pay.
