Initial referral is to the Sydney office. Low Vision Clinics are conducted in the Illawarra region. Services available to people who are legally blind: - Activities of Daily Living Skills training - Vision Aids, Print Access Training (Computer and Braille Training) - Child and Family Services - Advice on Sport and Recreation - Employment Services - Talking books and reading aids - Counselling. - Production of material in various formats - large print, audio, braille. Limited home visiting in region because of staff capacity, when available, they will conduct home safety checks. No support groups are run from this centre, but there are individual groups available in the community.

The Visually Impaired Person's Travel Permit entitles the holder to free travel on public transport in New South Wales for a period of three years. Guide Dogs and Assistance Dogs permitted on trains for visually blind or aurally impaired persons only. Must be legally blind to qualify for a permit.

Vision Australia Information Library Service offers a library service for people who are blind, vision impaired or have difficulty reading standard printed material. We work to ensure that through innovation, advocacy and empowerment those with a print disability can enjoy the same access to information and recreational reading as others in the community. Taxation support products 2007 in alternate formats are free of charge to anyone with a print disability. Also available is an audio version for the Sydney Festival 2008.

Support group run by volunteers for people with vision impairment. Provides support, information and social opportunities for people with vision impairment. Also offers basic computer training.

Support group run by volunteers for people with vision impairment and their carers. Holds monthly meetings with speakers and discussions on issues and problems faced by people with vision impairment. Can also offer home visits to advise or assist with simple home modifications. Support group also meets at Lawson for lunch 1st Wed of each month.
