Support offered to children and parents from birth or as soon as the child is identified as having a vision impairment. Students and pre-school/school teachers receive support from Advisory Teacher for Vision. Students are not segregated. Continually monitored and adjusted according to child's needs. Students in remote areas receive visits at 3 to 6 month intervals for up to a week at a time. Between visits, Special Education Teachers or Inclusion Support Assistants work with these students. Regular contact to monitor programs is maintained by telephone, fax and email. The Resource Centre is the only braille production agency in the NT, and also has resources such as equipment, tactile adaptations, large print and audio material.
