The Long Day Care Respite Service offers one day extended respite for working carers of the frail aged, including older people with dementia. Working carers can be defined as: carers who are employed in paid work; do voluntary work; or who are preparing to do work eg. undertaking a TAFE course. A diverse activity program is conducted at the Day Centre that is designed to meet individual needs. We provide: breakfast; morning tea; lunch; afternoon tea; light evening snack; craft supplies; activities; and game prizes.

A support group for carers of people with dementia also operates in Brougton on the Third Monday of each month, 1:30pm - 3:30pm. Aim is to support carers and to help avoid early institutionalisation for the person living with dementia.
