The Kalgoorlie MDRT provides education, support and respite to carers and people with dementia. The service is NRCP funded and assists families in accessing community-based respite services in the Goldfields region. As part of its ongoing program, MDRT members will identify and/or implement respite options as required, introducing the carer and the person with dementia to the benefits of respite. Regular community-based respite is offered including: In-Home Respite This is where a respite care-worker visits the individual's home to provide support to family carers who can either receive a regular or occasional service during the day or overnight.
